Notes
Elizabeth's father quickly thrived in NC becoming a leader in the Town Fork community. Robert Lanier and John Williams of Nut Bush in Granville Co. established stores nearby and employed his young cousins, John and Richard Harrison to operate the Shallow Ford store and their elder brother James to manage the store at Town Fork located on the plantation of Elizabeth's brother-in-law and sister Gray and Margaret (Hampton) Bynum. James lodged with the Bynums where he met Elizabeth. They fell in love and were married a year later when Elizabeth was only 15.
