From Frank M. Gentry Ltr, Jun 2 1928:
Lovell (Lovel, or Love) Harrison, a Rev soldier was the father of Joseph Harrison whose Will was probated Feb 13, 1788 in Louisa Co. VA.
The first record I have of Joseph Harrison, he was in Capt. Buller Claiborne's Co. 2nd VA Cont. Reg. commanded by Col. Spotswood. There are also records of his being paid in May, Aug. and July, 1777; Aug. and July 1778; July 1783, Oct 1783, and Nov 1784 (which is the last record until that of the probation of his will in Feb. 1788.)
On Jul 10, 1783 he received a land warrant for 200 acres for three years services in the continental line. The records show that he was, private, corporal, and sergeant at various times. I am sorry that I cannot suppply you with the date of his birth but the place of enl. was quite likely the same as his death, in any event both occurred in VA. Signed: Frank M. Gentry
