Grandfather of Pres. Abraham Lincoln.
Lincoln wrote a short autobiography, written out of regard for his old friend, Hon. Jesse W. Fell, and not for publication at that time. "My parents were both born in Virginia. My paternal grandfather, Captain Abraham Lincoln, emigrated from Rockingham County, Virginia to Kentucky about 1781 or 2, when a year or so later, he was killed by the Indians, not in battle, but by stealth when he was laboring to open a farm in the forest....My father, at the death of his father, was but six years of age, and he literally grew up without education".
