In March, 1847, they were living near Waco, TX when their daughter, Lucy Ann, was born. Nancy died not long after, and c1849 Sam left Texas to go to the Gold Rush. He left Lucy with two sisters named Margaret and Lydia HOOD who ran the Hood Hotel in Independence, TX. More than likely Nancy was related to the Hood sisters who were daughters of Tunis Hood and Eleanor HARRISON. Although they heard from him for a while, they lost touch very soon.
