He was in the Confederate Army and, while en route to headquarters to join General Price's forces, was captured by union soldiers but after some months succeeded in making his escape. After the war and death of his parents, he became the head of the old homestead. In 1879 he sold his interest in the estate and removed to Chicago, IL, where he became a prosperous live stock commercial merchant. [S943]
