Notes
Benjamin was a captain for three years in the U.S. Virginia Line. He was granted lands in Ohio which were given to Batteal and brothers. There are at least three documents signed by the Pres. of U.S. regarding land grants for service. Tennesee Cousins by Worth Ray indicates the parentage of Ben to be Lawrence and Catherine (Marmaduke) Harrison. There are several accounts indicating he is a descendent of Ben the Signer (see notes with son Batteal).
