Notes
Thomas Peterson, son of John, born circa 1751, died 1788. On Jan. 30, 1778 he sold to John Sturdivant, Jr., 200 acres in Brunswick County, "a moiety of a tract of 400 Acres, sold by Lewis Parham to John Peterson; and devised to Thomas Peterson by the last Will and Testament of his father, John Peterson, dec'd., on record in the County Court of Prince George". (Brunswick Co. D.B. 13, p. 55). Thomas Peterson married Elizabeth Claiborne, daughter of Col. Augustine Claiborne of Sussex (V. H. G. ). The marriage bond was dated, Sussex County, June 15, 1775. The will of Thomas Peterson, June 24, 1782/ Sept. 8, 1789, left his whole estate to his wife Elizabeth, and appointed his friends, Maj. William Claiborne and John Cocke of Sussex County, Executors (P.G. W & D B. 1787-1792, Part 1, p. 305). According to the Prince George Tax Lists, he left an estate of 600 acres. Elizabeth Claiborne, wife to Thomas Peterson, was born in 1758 and died m 1794. [S897]
