Notes

The Succession Papers of Joseph Hooter, 1809 names his wife and all children. As follows: Wife, Sarah Clarke Hooter, now married to Asa White Michael Hooter, age 19 Louis, age 17 Joseph, age 14 Barbara, age 11 James, age 10 Sarah, age 8

Sarah Clarke White's brother was appointed as trustee of her minor children after the death of their father. The papers describe him as the brother of Sarah. His signature, compared to that of the signature of the more famous DANIEL CLARKE of New Orleans, appear to be the same. A New Orleans handwriting expert so declairs. He was widely featured in Harnett Kane's book NEW ORLEANS WOMAN. The book concerned MYRA CLARK GAINES, the natural daughter of DANIEL CLARKE.
