Green Co. was est. by an act of the NC general assembly 18 Apr 1783. This act provided that Washington Co., est. six years before should be divided. At this time, Washington Co. was still part of NC. Therefore NC as place of birth on a census record does not necessarily mean he was not born in now TN.
