Will of Henry Atkinson
In the name of God Amen. I Henry Atkinson ### of the County of Nash and State of North Carolina being well in health and^of sound mind and memory, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (to wit)
Item, I give & bequeth to my son John Atkinson, one
Dollar and no more. To him and his heirs forever.
Item. I give and bequeath to my son Benjamin Atkinson, one
Dollar and no more. To him and his heirs forever,
Item. I give and bequeath to my son Henry Atkinson, one
Dollar and no more. To him and his heirs forever,
Item. I give and bequeath to my son William Atkinson, one
Dollar and no more. To him and his heirs forever,
Item. I give and bequeath to my son Jacob Atkinson, four negroes, by the names of Jim, Peter, Randal? and Dinah?, to him and his heirs forever-
Item. I give and bequeath to my grandson Alsey Moore Atkinson,the son of my son Henry, one hundred and thirty acres of land (???) of the adjoining(???) as bounded by the directions of the deeds. the said (? ) of land is on Sappony creek in (??) improvements on the house, also one negro man named Jack To him and his heirs for ever,
Item. I give and bequeath to my Grandaughter Sally Atkinson the daughter of my son Thomas, Two negroes, by the names of Dick and (B???) to her and her heirs forever.-
Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Temperance Harrison those negroes by the name of Moody, Aggy?, and Jenny, also all the residue of my Estate that I have not here before given away after all my lawful debts is paid to her and her heirs for ever
Item, I here by appoint and candidate my Son in law William Harrison my whole and sole executor to this my last will and Testament In witness where of I have here unto set my sign and seal this 9th day of March 1816

SRCE: 1)Henry Atkinson & Jethro Harrison were both living on Contentenea Creek, Nash Co., N.C. as aearly as 1789
SRCE: 2) a Petition was filed for a road from "Henry Atkinson's ferry to H. Horn's ford on Contentenea Creek, crossing Toisnot at Roland Williams' bridge & the great swamp at Cobb's iron works"Feb 2, 1792 (page 117)
SRCE: 3) A petition was filed to "turn the road leading from Nash Courthouse Atkinson's bridge on Tar River". The road between Great Sappony Creek and Little Sappony Creek was in such condition that it would be easier to construct a new road (no date)
SRCE: 4) A petition was filed "for a bridge to be erected across Tar river at Henry Atkinson's" where the road then crossed (no date)
SRCE: 5) A petition was filed for the replacement of "the bridge that was washed away from across Tar river at Henry Atkinson's" (no date)
SRCE: 6) a petition was fild in 1804 for a"new road from the Turkey Creek area toward the Nash Courthouse beginning at the foot of the Great Path near where Jonas Coleson lived, following the path to Henry Horn's plantation, then directly to the ford of White Oak, on to Joel Williams Bridge over Toisnot Swamp, and from there to Henry Atkinson's Bridge" [S716] [S716] [S717] [S717] [S717]
