Letter from Mrs. Donna Pettus to her aunt, Mrs. William Wallace (Fannie Carson Lindsay, sister-in-law to Benjamin Donnell Lindsay states that James and Elizabeth Harrison are first cousins and they were first cousins to William Henry Harrison, ninth president of the United States. This letter was dated 30-Oct-1935.

A portion of his obituary reads" Mr. McWhorter, whose father served as a surgeon in the Confederate Army, was a great-great-grandson of Philip Ludwell Lee, a member of the House of Burgesses and one of the 6 sons of thomas Lee, first native governor of the colony of Virginia". He was a stone mason and built many substantial homes in the county, and he assisted in the construction of the national Cathedral in Washington, DC.
