In 1724 granted 400 acres, on Reedy Swamp,St. John's Parish, King William Co. Va. next to John Hurt, Nicholas Dillard, JOhn Chisum, Sr., and Paul Pigg. (Nugent Vol 3, p. 267). This was about 25 miles southwest of his father's Mattaponi plantation.
In 1727 Caroline Co was formed from these areas of Essex, King William, and King and Queen. There is no further record of James Harrison of Reedy Creek, but he may have been the father of John Harrison of Halifax, whose neighbors in Halifax were Hurt, Dillard, Chisum and Pigg, and who named his eldest son James.
