Notes

Thomas Harrison was living in Lincoln County, North Carolina, in 1779/1780 when he volunteered in the service. He married Nancy PACK in 1783/4 in Lincoln County, North Carolina (there was no record of the marriage though). He moved from NC in 1795. Lived in Warren Co., KY; Franklin Co., TN; back to KY; thence to Indiana; back to KY; then to Missouri; then to AL for 2 years; and finally back to Franklin Co., TN, where he applied for pension in 1833. His pension file is 102 pages available from the National Archives where he states he was born in Maryland. Pension Application: Thomas Harrison, NC - File # W360 Widow: Nancy - File #9536

I have reason to believe he was in Missouri in 1816 as some of his grandsons that lived near him in TN was born there at that time. Also, we think he lived in Madison County, while in Alabama, as he had children living there.

His brother, Richard Harrison, signed an affidavit stating he served with his brother in the Revolution. Richard Harrison lived in Allen Co., Kentucky, at the time.

Thomas Harrison died November 2, 1839. Nancy Harrison died March 10,1854. Both of them died in Grundy Co., TN (formed from part of Franklin)

According to the application, Thomas and Nancy had five living children in 1795 (scraps of the family Bible were in the application)

Sol's bro Richard Harrison was of Allen Co. KY in 1832 made aff'dt in Franklin Co. TN that he srv with his bro Thomas. A James Sartain was JP in 1846 & 1854 of Grundy Co. TN.

Obit: Thomas Harrison in Huntsville Democrat, 18 Jan 1840, says he died 4 Nov 1839 at his residence in Coffee Co. TN, upwards of 80 years. he was born in England, and fought for TN. He and his brother Richard Harrison came to TN after serving in the NC Militia under Gen. Davidson. The obituary asks that Democratic papers in St. Louis and Talladega, AL pick up the obituary (Harrison Surname File, AL Archives).

Same THOMAS? Under the Cherokee treaty of 1811-12, Thomas Harrison's heirs (sometime after 1836) claimed a 640-acre reservation in Marshall Co. AL. [S433]
