Sarah (Patsy) Daniel, was the daughter of John Daniel IV and his wife, Anne Willimas, or Caroline County, Va. They were second cousins, and both were descended from the immigrants John Daniel I and John Williams I, who settled on Queen's Creek in York County, Va. in 1645. Their families intermarried and became connected with the Keeling, Fleming, and Henderson families of York and New Kent whose ancestry has been traced back to Magna Carta Sureties and the Roll of Battle Abbey through the Fleming line. As prominent members of their communities, they served on vestries and in various gov. offices. John Williams II built Studley on the Pamunkey River in New Kent County which later was sold and became the birthplace of Patrick Henry. John Daniel III of York County died in 1722 and left a plantation with slaves in Hanover County to his son, John Daniel IV, who had married Anne Williams, daughter or John Williams Ill and his wife, Mary Keeling, of York. John IV and Anne (Williams) Daniel were living on the Hanover plantation at the time of his father's death, and their daughter, Sarah (Patsy), probably was born in Hanover about 1725. 11cr brothers and sisters were John Williams, .Martha, Elizabeth, and James Daniel. John Daniel IV sold the Hanover plantation in 1732 and moved to Goochland County where he became involved in a court case two years later with his wire's nephew,John Williams. he lost the case and in disgust moved to Caroline County to join his brother, Williams Daniel, the owner of a mill on Beverley Run. John IV took over operation 0f the mill, leaving Williams free to delve into politics. A tobacco rolling road was built from Daniel's Mill to the warehouse on the Rappahannock River, and traffic became so heavy there was need for a tavern (hotel) on the route. In 1741 John Sneed was issued a license to operate a tavern at Daniel's Mill, and this brought many young men to its premises. Sarah Daniel's sister, Elizabeth, married Christopher Dudley of Caroline in 1742, and about 1743 Sarah married John Harrison.
John Daniel IV died at Nutt Bush in August 1762 and Mrs. Daniel's brother-in-law, Samuel Henderson, became a surrogate grandfather-guardian to the Harrison's boys. The Henderson lived in a large home on Nut Bush Creek near present Williamsboro. A believer in cultural education, Henderson had established a school for his 11 children and then employed a second tutor to teach them French. A dancing master also was frequently in residence at the Henderson home. Nut Bush communicants attended St. John's Episcopal Church (still extant at Williamsboro) near the home of Judge John Williams, nephew of Mrs. Henderson and law partner of the Henderson's eldest son, Richard.
