Ruth Harrison Jones reports:

Peter had been requested by the Chesterfield Monthly Meeting of Friends (Quaker Church) of Burlington County, New Jersey to grant permission for his son, Richard to marry Ruth Buckman. Young Richard and Ruth had tried to make their First Declaration of Marriage on December 3, 1686; but were told that Richard must bring a certificate from his father to the next meeting. On January 1, 1687, Richard produced the signed certificate giving consent of his father, Peter to marry Ruth Buckman.

Little more is known of Peter Harrison as a resident of New Jersey except that on July 5, 1678 he was one of 29 men who signed a petition to the Governor of New Jersey in favor of Avery Jacobs. A list of property owners of Burlington County, NJ dated June 24, 1684, identifies Peter Harrison as the owner of 50 acres of land. (Burlington Co., Book 31).

When Peter came to New Jersey remains unknown. According to an (IGI film), Peter Harrison was born 1630 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England. ^[S583]
