BIRT SOUR International Genealogical Index 1993 Edition
According to Goochland Historical Society (804-556-3966) Philip Webber was given a patent of land of 400 acres on Dover Mill Creek (near James River). Land was next to land owned by John Woodson (grant of 1739?) and adjacent to land of Wiliam Randolph, an ancestor of Thomas Jefferson.
Was William Webber, born about 1739 in Goochland, another son?
Philip Webber, Junior sold 1195 acres in Goochland County to Wiliam Douglas February 21, 1758. Copy of entire document in my possession. This tract of land was acquired by Philip Webber from Arthur Hopkins. There were two tracts in the sale, one of 925 acres and one of 270 acres.
Also in 1758 (31st year of our Souverign Lord George the second) -- George second ruled from 1727 to 1760) Philip Webber, Junior sold to Gideon Sandage a tract of land in Goochland county. Dated the 23rd day of _______.
Philip's signature on these two documents is beautiful script handwriting.
