I think her mother was an Indian. I also think her father, James Newkirk of Indiana fought on the yankee side in the Civil War. I have an old ledger that he kept his records in from 1850 to 1860. He was sort of a wheelwright. He worked on wagons, single-trees, double-trees ... stuff like that. Thad may have run cattle for Mr. Newkirk. [S1001]
