graduate of V.M.I. and later a law student at William and Mary College. He raised a company (The Black Eagle Riflemen) which were enrolled in the 18th VA Inf. He was assigned as Major of the 11th Va. Vols. and fell mortally wounded at the battle of Bull Run [S2]
