B. T. Harrison

dies at Hospital

Benjamin Thomas Harrison, 80, of Route 2, Lugoff, died late Wednesday night at the Veteran's Hospital.

He was born in Richland Co., the son of the late Benjamin and Martha Jane Muse Harrison. He was a member of Salem Methodist Church and was a Spanish-American War Veteran.

He was retired from the Southern Railroad in 1943.

He is survived by two daughters, MrSC C. Whittle, Jr., of Williston and Mrs. Agnes Gantt of Lufoff; three sons, Durham T. Harrison of Williston, Paul O. Harrison of Walterboro and Philip H. Harrison, of Columbia; one sister, Mrs. Tanner (? hard to read) of Orangeburg; 14 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock this afternoon from Salem Methodist Church at Blaney conducted by the Rev. Bessie Parker. Internment will be in the Harrison Grave Yard, Columbia. The body of Mr. Harrison will be taken to the church at one o'clock this

afternoon.

Mr. Harrison served in the Spanish-American War with the South Carolina Infantry, Company I, Camp George H. Thomas, Chickamauga, GA, and Camp Cubalibre, and Columbia Camp.

He was a devoted member of the Methodist Church, having served as teacher and superintendent of the Sunday school and as a member of the official board for a mumber of years.

Active pallbearers will be Arnold Porter, Asbury Martin, Colie Hawkins, Osborne Brazzell, Clifton Daniels, and John LeGrand.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sunday school class at Salem Methodist Church, M. F. Harrison, Dewy Brazzell, Fred Miles, George Palmer, Willie Parks, Willie Harrison, and Frank Brown.
