John B. Shera served in the Civil War from June 18, 1862, to September 25, 1862. He re-enlisted May 2, 1864 to September 1, 1864. Both times he received an honorable discharge. He fought in the battle at Folcks Mills, Maryland, August 1, 1864. From his own words, he was in camp in Clarksburg, Virginia.
