Mother: Elizabeth RUST |
Willoughby Harrison's will (Westmoreland Co. Deeds & Wills 11, p. 181) was signed 12 Jan 1749/50 and proved 27 Mar 1750. It listed eldest son Samuel, other sons Joshua, Daniel and Willoughby, daughter Darcas Harrison and daughter Elizabeth Baley.
The will said that Samuel was to have the plantation "I now live on, it being the land I bought of John Rust." If Samuel died without issue the land was to go to Joshua and if he died without issue it was to go to Darcas.
Daniel was to receive his old plantation, "it being the land my father gave me..." Joshua, then Samuel, then Darcas were residual heirs, as above.
Willoughby was to receive "what I have given him" plus an equal share of the remaining property to be divided.
Joshua, Darcas and Elizabeth were accorded "personalty."
On 24 Apr 1750 an inventory of the estate was filed and divided into six parts.
Willoughby's wife apparently was deceased.
(The above is information I have gathered in the course of my investigation of James Harrison, one of the seven sons of George Harrison (d. 1713). In addition to James and Willoughby, the others were Thomas, George, John, William and Peter.) [S508]
