Correspondence:
Brian Wiegand, Milwaukee, WI (1998)
His ancester, Mary Caroline HARNEY, is thought to be an illegitimate dau of William Selby Harney, born before his first marriage.
"Caroline" was born 1828 or 29 near Fort Winnebago, Portage, WI.  She died 5 Nov 1888, Green Bay WI.
Caroline's death certificate gives her father as "Gen. William Selby HARNOIS" the French spelling of HARNEY.
History:  Caroline HARNEY probably left Portage with Rev. T.J. Van den BROCK of Little Chute's St. John's Catholic Church. He traveled back and forth baptizing, marrying, and burying the Indians of Fort Winnebago, Green Bay, and Little Chute. Caroline lived in Little Chute for about 20 years. She married John LaFROMBROISE, 4 April 1848. He died very soon after their marriage. She then married Abraham PARENTEAU, 10 June 1850, and moved to Bay Settlement, WI. Caroline lived in Bay Settlement from 1850 to 1870, then moved to Green Bay and lived there until her death in 1888, of heart disease. She is buried in Allouez Cemetery, Green Bay, WI.
Her children: Caroline "Carrie" b. 29 Sep 1851, d. 6 Jul 1910; Abraham Jr. b.14 Nov 1854, d.1881; Christine; John; and William PARENTEAU.
