Williams Syndrome

Hi these are 2 of my nephews Joey and his brother Carl, their my sister Robin's
2 kids. This picture was taken in October of 1998. Joey has Williams Syndrome.
Joey just turned 7 years old in December and he just started saying a few words
last year. He's in a special class at school and his teachers have really been a
big help to my sister and her family. I wanted to devote a page on my web site to
Williams Syndrome because when Joey was first diagnosed with it, my sister and I
couldn't find anything on the web about it. Since then she's found out quite a bit
about WS (Williams Syndrome) and also joined a support group for WS. This page is
done with her approval. Whatever you see here she has told me I can put it on here.
If you have any questions about Williams Syndrome you can e-mail her directly at

Joey has had a rough life, like most WS kids, he's had several surgery's
(hernia, ear's, eye's) he has a heart murmur, which the doctor's are keeping an
eye on because heart problems are part of WS. He told me in December '98 that he
loves me and thats the first time he's told me that. His teacher at school had put
pictures and words on little cards to help him communicate at school. Robin started
doing it at home and it really helped him to cut down on his temper tantrums. Robin
and Joey's teacher went to a siminar for children with disabilities and they both
learned a lot there to help them communicate with Joey. He's now in first grade,
its a class for children with disabilities, but he's doing really great in it. He
rides a bus to school but he has to sit in a seat belt so he don't get out of his
seat.

I will be adding links to this page so if you know of any sites related to Williams
Syndrome please email me to add a page.
You can also e-mail Robin directly if you want to know anything about WS, just let
her know that you found her from my page. email Robin
