DEATH OF MRS. E. BEAUCHAMP

-----

An Old Epsom Resident

We regret to record the death on Sunday of Mrs. Elizabeth Beauchamp, aged 80, of 9c, St. Martin's-avenue, Epsom. Mrs Beauchamp was the widow of the late Mr. William Beauchamp, who formerly carried on business as a boot-maker and repairer on the site now occupied by the Wandsworth and District Gas Co., and who died in November, 1894.

Subsequently Mrs. Beauchamp carried on the business of a confectioner, tobacconist and caterer for 40 years, opening at 5 a.m. and closing at 11 p.m. every day up to the time of the Great War, when closing hours were restricted. She was of a kindly and sympathetic nature, and it was said that no person came out of her shop hungry, whether they could pay or not. Eventually she had to give up the business through ill-health, and at the time of her death was living with her daughter. She leaves one son and three daughters.

The principal mourners at the funeral on Wednesday were: William Beauchamp (son), May Beauchamp (daughter), Mr. and Mrs. Lambert (daughter and son-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. Tutte (daughter and son-in-law), Mrs. Stimson (grand-daughter), Mr. Maidment (grandson), Miss Ferris (niece), Mr. Bloice, Mr. Jack, Mr. and Mrs. Percy.

Wreaths were sent by:-Willie (son); May (daughter); Maud and Louie (daughter and son-in-law); Flo and Reg (daughter and son-in-law); William (brother); Doris and Clarrie (grandchildren); Archie and Sis (grandchildren);Madge, Sis and Norman (grandchildren); Ivy and Olive (grandchildren); Lizzie (niece); Mr. and Mrs. Percy; Tom; Billie and Mabel; Mr. and Mrs. Walpole and family; Mr. and Mrs. W.
