    By the Permission of Almighty God, I William Hanks of Wotton Underedge in the County of Gloucester Broker and Salesman, do hereby revoke, annul, and make void all wills codicils and other Testamentary Dispositions by me at any Time heretofore made, and do declare this only to be my last will and testament - I give unto my Good Friends John Hunt of Wotton Underedge aforesaid Cabinet maker, and John Beady of the same Place Clothier, All That my Leasehold Messuage in Tenement with the Appurtenances thereto adjoining and belonging, situate at the Corner of Bradley Street in Wotton Underedge Aforesaid and now in my own Occupation, To hold to them the said John Hunt and John Beady and to the Survivor of them his Executors Administrators and Assigns for all the Estate and Interest I shall have to come therein at the Time of my Decease: Upon the Trusts hereinafter mentioned and declared-respecting the same. Also, I give to the said John Hunt and John Beady All my Household Goods and Furniture, Brass, Plate, Pewter and Linen, and also my Stock in Trade, Monies, Securities for Money, and Book Debts, Upon this special Trust and Confidence in them reposed (that is to say) upon Trust That they the said John Hunt and John Beady or the Survivor of them or the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do and shall permit and suffer my Dearly beloved Wife Mary Hanks to hold and enjoy my said messuage Tenement or Dwelling House with the Appurtenances and receive and take the Rents Issued and profits thereof to and for her own use and Benefit, And also to use and enjoy all and singular my Household goods and Furniture, Beds, Bedding, Brass, Plate, Pewter and Linen, for and during the Term of her natural life; And upon Trust that they my said Trustees or the Survivor of them or the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do and shall so soon as conveniently may be after my Decease collect get in and receive all such Debts as may be owing to me at the Time of my Decease, whether on Mortgage, Bond Simple contract, or otherwise, And also sell and Dispose of my Stock in Trade for the most Money and best price and prices that can or may be reasonably had or gotten for the same, And the Amount of the monies so to be received and got in with what shall arise by the Sale of my Stock in Trade, after as necessary Costs and Charges attendant on such Sale be deducted therefrom, and also such ready monies as may be in my possession at the Time of my Decease, do and shall blend and incorporate together, and place the total Amount thereof, after payment of my Debts and funeral expences thereout out of Interest either on Private or Public Security or Securities at their Discretion, and pay the Interest Dividends and proceeds thereof as the same shall be received into the proper Hands of her my said wife Mary Hanks, for and during the Term of her natural Life; And from and immediately after the Decease of her my said wife Upon Trust that they my said Trustees or the Survivor of them or the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do and shall sell and dispose of my said Messuage Tenement or Dwelling House with the Appurtenances for the most money and best Price or Prices that can or may be reasonably had or gotten for the same; And the money arising by such last mentioned Sale do and shall add to the Monies above directed to be blended and incorporated together, and pay One full Moiety? Or half Part of the whole to my Sisters Jane Smith, and Keziah Lawrence, in equal shares and proportions, in Case they shall be both then living, But in Case either of them shall be then dead leaving lawful Issue Upon Trust to pay and divide the share of and in the same moiety or Half Part of such of them so dying, unto and among such her lawful Issue if more than one equally, And if but one, then to such one solely; And in Case either of my said Sisters shall die without lawful Issue Before my said Wife shall depart this Life, Then upon Trust to pay the share of her so dying unto her who shall survive my said wife, or to the lawful Issue of such Survivor, in equal Shares if more than one, And if but one, then to such one solely; And upon Trust that they my said Trustees or the Survivor or the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do and shall immediately after the Decease of my said wife pay the other full moiety or half Part of such whole, unto or to and for the Use and Benefit of John Roberts, who now lives with me, and who is one of the Sons of my old Friend and Acquaintance Richard Roberts of Cromhall in the said County of Gloucester, Yeoman, Charged and Chargeable Nevertheless and I do hereby expressly charge the said last mentioned moiety or half Part with, and subject the same to the payment of, the several Sums of Money hereinafter mentioned, to the several and respective persons hereinafter named or described, within Six Calendar months next after the Decease of my said Wife (that is to say) To my Uncle Thomas Hanks of Horsley in the County aforesaid the Sum of Ten Pounds, and to each of his Children the Sum of Five Pounds. And to the Said Richard Roberts the Sum of Ten pounds and to each of his Children (Except his said Son John) the Sum of Five Pounds. And in Case the said John Roberts shall happen to depart his Life in the Life Time of my said Wife, then upon Trust That they my said Trustees or the Survivor of them his Executors or Administrators do and shall pay and divide the whole of such last mentioned Moiety or half Part, Charged and Chargeable as aforesaid, unto and among my said Two Sisters Jane Smith and Keziah Lawrence, and the said Richard Roberts in equal Shares and proportions, or to their respective lawful Issue, in Case any or either of them shall be then dead. Also I give to the said John Roberts All my wearing Apparel of every Sort and Kind, and my best Silver Cased Watch washed with gold. And I do hereby Constitute and Appoint the said John Hunt and John Beady Joint Executors In Trust of this my last Will and Testament. And my Will is, and I do hereby Declare that upon the Sale of my said Messuage Tenement or Dwelling House with the Appurtenances, upon the Decease of my said wife as is hereinbefore directed, the Receipt or Receipts of the said John Hunt and John Beady or the Survivor of them or the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor for the Consideration or Purchase Money shall be good and effectual Discharge or Discharges to the purchaser or purchasers of the same premises; And that such purchaser or purchasers, after such Receipt or Receipts shall be given, shall not be obliged to see to the Application of the Money by him her or them respectively paid, or be answerable or accountable for any Loss misapplication or Nonapplication of the Purchase Money or any Part thereof. Provided always and my Will further is that it shall and may be lawful to and for them the said John Hunt and John Beady and the Survivor of them and Executors and Administrations of such Survivor from Time to Time to deduct and retain by and out of the Monies which by virtue of this my Will shall come to them or either of their hands all such Costs Charges Damages and Expences which they or either of them shall or may pay sustain expend or be -hut? unto in or about the Executing or performing all or any of the Trusts aforesaid, or otherwise by reason of this my will, or any Trust herein declared, And that they shall be Charged or Chargeable each of them for and with his own respective Receipts Acts and wilful Defaults only, and not otherwise, and shall not be Charged or Chargeable with any more Monies or Effects than what shall actually and respectively come to his and their own Hands, by Virtue of this my Will, nor with any Loss or Damage that may happen to the said Trust Estate and Premises, without their respective wilful Neglect or Default. In Witness whereof I the said William Hanks the said Testator have to -is my last Will and Testament written and contained in this and the Three preceding Sheets of Paper set my Hand and Seal (that is to say) to the Three preceding Sheets I have subscribed my Name and to this Fourth and last Sheet I have set my Hand and Seal this Twenty Second Day of December in the Forty Third Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King George the Third. And in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Two./.
