I give and Devise to my Friends Thomas Browne Esquire and Michael Cook both of Salperton aforesaid All That my Messuage Tenement Malthouse Sh---le Garden Orchard and all other my Freehold Promises in Salperton aforesaid with their Apurtenance-- To hold to them and their Heirs upon Trust that they or the Survivor of them shall and do pay and apply the Rents Issues and Profits thereof to or to and for the sole and seperate Use and Benefit of my Daughter Betty Castle during her Life in such manner as my Trustees shall think fit notwithstanding her present or any after Coverture and I will and direct that her Receipt shall be a sufficient Discharge notwithstanding such Coverture And after the Decease of my said Daughter I give and devise the said Messuage or Tenement and Freehold Promises unto the Child or Children of my said Daughter Betty his her or their Heirs but in case my said Daughter shall dye leaving no Child or Children then I give and Desire the said Messuages or Tenement Malthouse and premises unto my Nephew John Hanks his Heirs and Assigns forever but it is my will and desire in case my said Daughter shall dye before her Husband that her said Husband may have the first offer to Rent the said Tenement Malthouse and Premises at a fair reasonable Rent to be paid Quarterly for so long time as my said Trustees or the Survivor or my said Nephew shall think him deserving of that favour I give and Bequeath to the said Thomas Browne and Michael Cook All my Household Goods Stock in Trade Money and Personal Estate of what nature soever upon Trust that they do and shall permit my said Daughter Betty owing her life either to have the use of the said Goods and Personal Estate or the Interest and Produce thereof in Case my said Trustees shall think fit to -ell and convert the same into Money to her own sole and seperate use and Benefit notwithstanding her present or any after - - Coverture for which I will that her Receipt shall be a sufficient discharge notwithstanding such Coverture and after the Decease of my said Daughter I give the said Goods and Personal Estate to the Child or Children of my said Daughter but in case of her Death without Issue I Give and Bequeath the same Personal Estate and the Interest and Produse thereof unto my said Nephew John Hanks -- Executor Administrator and Assigns I appoint the said Thomas Bro-ne and Michael Cook Executors of this my Will hereby revoking all other by me heretofore made requesting them to pay all my just Debts as soon as convenient and to reimburse themselves all expenses and Charges in and about the Trust reposed? in them In Witness whereof I the said John Hanks the Testator have hereunto put my Hand and Seal the Seventeeth Day of December One thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Three declared by the said John Hanks the Testator as and for his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto set our Names as Witnesses in his presence at his request and in the Presence of each other Wm Walker (signature) P ? Cheeseman (signature) The above named Thomas Browne and Michael Cook the joint Executors were duly sworn before me Jas Benson --- Sworn to £20 and less than £100 This will was proved the 30th April 1785 Before the worshipful James Benson Doctor of Law Vicar General in Spirituals of the Right Revd Father in God Samuel by divine Permission Lord Bishop of the Diocese of Gloucester and of his Episcopal Consistory official principal Lawfully Constituted by Thomas Browne and Michael Cook the joint Executors & to whom & having first Sworn well and faithfully to administer to the said will and also to exhibit an Inventory and render an account.
