I Thomas Hanks Mill near Earley Wood Weaver in the Parish of Horsley Gloucestershire being in perfect Health thanks be given to God Tharefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body knowing that it is appointed once unto all men to Die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say Principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the Hanks of Almighty God that gave it and my Body I recommand to the Earth to be Buried in a decent Christian Burial at the descretion of my Wife nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Almightly power of God and as touching such Worldly estate narewith? it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give and demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form First I give and bequeath to Mary my Dearly beloved Wife all the Goods and Chattles that She brought unto me after our Marriage and to remain in the House three months after my Death and to receive all rents that is due up to that Time and to Pay all Debts and Funeral Expenses Also I give and bequeath to my Sons John and Thomas Hanks all my wareing apparrel to be equally divided between them both Also I give and bequeath to my beloved Sons and Daughters all my Goods and Chattles together with three Houses and a Mill Situated at Mill near Earley Wood in the Parish of Horsley one dwelling house at Earley Wood occupied by my son Thomas Hanks as it is my Desire if he has a desire to keep the House as the House at Thirty Six ounds it is to Valued as part of Thomas Hanks Share if he does not choose to keep it at that money it is to be sold with the rest and divided. I have at Laphorn? Two Dwellings in the Parish of Horsley as if my Son John Hanks dose choose to keep it at Thirty Pounds he shall have it as Thirty Pounds is to be part of his Share If either of my Sons or Daughters should depart this life before I do It shall be in their power to Leave their Share to any Person they may think proper. If my Sons dose not choose to keep the Houses that I have mention above it is all to be Sold and Divided between them My Son John Hanks My Son Thomas Hanks SuSannah Brinket My Daughter Ameliach Ashmead My Daughter Jane Harbet Sarah Hanks Elizabeth Hanks Mary Hanks after my Houses and Mill is Sold and Goods and Chattles are sold the money is to be equally divided between my sons and daughter and then seven pounds taken away from Susannah Brinket share and divided between the other seven brothers and sisters as Susannah Brinket will have to her share Seven pounds less to her share than the rest of her brothers and sisters. I also appoint William Ashmead as my Executor Spinner Earley Wood in the Parish of Horsley to see my last Will and Testament executed and also revoaking all Former Wills by me I heareby appoint Enoch Clift Clothier Thos Rickets Spinner Thus to see my Will Lawfully executed in witness Hereoff? I have set my Hand and Seal Signed Sealed Published Pronounced and Declared by the said Thomas Hanks as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us the subscribers Witnesses Thomas Richards John Brown The above named William Ashmead the Executor was duly Sworn before me Chas. This is a codicil to the last will and Testament of me Thomas Hanks of
the Parish of Horsley in the County of Gloucester Weaver which I desire
may be amended, thereto and taken as part thereof whereas I have in and
by my said last will and Testament bearing? Date the thirty first day of
August one thousand eight hundred and fifteen Appointed William Harding
of the Parish of Horsley to be one of the Executor In trust of my said
will Now I do hereby revoke the Appointment of the said William Harding
as such Executor as aforesaid And in every other? Respect I do hereby ratify and confirm my said will And also do hereby ratify
and confirm a codici to my said will bearing date the tenth day of October one thousand eight hundred and eighteen In witness whereof I the said Thomas Hanks the Testator have hereunto set my hand and seal the twentieth day of December one thousand eight hundred and twenty one.
