I John Hanks of Bourton on the Water in the County of Gloucester Yeoman being at this time weak in Body but of Sound disposing mind memory @ understanding Do therefore this first ____ day of July in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and fifty Seven make publish this my Last Will @ Testament in - Manner @ form following (that is to Say) I do give to my Daughter Mary Adams one shilling @ no more Also All the rest @ residue of my Goods @ Chattels - personal Estate @ wearing apparel After my legal Debts Legacy and funeral Expences are paid @ discharged - I Do give and bequeath unto my Sister Sarah Hanks for and during the Continuance of her life for her Sole Use @ benefitt And after her decease @ after her funeral Expences are paid and discharged I do order and dispose of what shall then remain in the following - Manner (that is to Say) I do Give five pounds thereof to my Grandaughter Sarah Adams and the remainder thereof If any I do give to be Equally divided Equally amongst the rest of my Grand Children and my Said Daughter Mary Share and Share alike. And I Do hereby make my Loving Brother Henry Trustee to see my Will performed And Also I Do hereby make Constitute @ appoint my said Sister Sarah Hanks aforesaid Whole @ Sole Executrix of this my Last Will @ Testament @ do hereby revoke all other by me here to fore make In Witness here of I have here unto Sett my hand @ Seal this day @ year above written Signed Sealed & Delivered by the ___ Said John Hanks ___ @ for his Last Will @ Testament in the presence of us who here present at the Signing @ Sealing thereof John by X Mark Hanks Ann fox John fox W:Bailey Notwithstanding What is Within mentioned above ___ remainder if any left after the said five pounds To be given to the rest of my Grandchildren share @ share alike this Last Clause I do hereby revoke @ make void and I do Order that such remain-- der if any such be after -- said five pounds is ---- I do give To my said Daughter Mary Adams @ her Husband to be at their disposal as they shall think fitt @ I do desire this may be looked upon @ taken as a Codicile to this my Will In Witness whereof I Do Sett my hand @ Seal -- same Day as -- within written Will -eas Signed @ at -- same Time @ before -- same witnesses hereto John by X Mark Hanks John fox Ann fox Wm:Bailey 4th Day of August 1757 The within named Sarah Hanks Sole Executris was duly sworn before me JWS Benson Chanr This will was Proved the 4thday of August in the Year of our Lord 1757 before the Worshipful James Benson Doctor of Laws Vicar General m_ Spirituals of the Right Reverend Father in God James by Divine Permission Lord Bishop of the Diocese of Gloucester and of his Episcopal Consistory Official Principal Lawfully Constituted by Sarah Hanks Sole Executrix and soforth to whom _ c having first Sworn well and faithfully to Administer to the said Will and also to Exhibit an Inventory and Render an Account and soforth
