DAUGHTERS OF UTAH PIONEERS OBITURARY SCRAPBOOK - - CLEARFIELD, Aug. 24. -- Friends and relatives will honor two couples in this vicinity Sunday and Monday on the fiftieth anniversary of a double wedding performed Aug. 26, 1885. The two couples are Mr. and Mrs. Emmanuel Hanks of Clearfield and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Willey of Layton. Fifty years ago yesterday, Aug. 23, Emmanuel Hanks, Maraldia Willey, Joseph Willey, Maraldia's uncle, and Amy Thurgood, started for Logan riding in a buggy which belonged to Amy's widowed mother and driving Emmanuel's team of horses. Their first night was spent at Syracuse, the second at what used to be called Little Copenhagen in Brigham canyon, and the third at Logan, where they were married in the temple the next day, Aug. 26, 1885. On their return to Bountiful 300 guests attended a reception given in their honor out under the trees at the old Wallace Willey home. Tomorrow Mr. and Mrs. Hanks will hold open house from 10 a.m. at their home here, and it is expected that another 300 persons will call to do them honor. Monday a family dinner and reunion will be held at which 68 close relatives are expected. A dinner has been planned in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Willey at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Green of Layton, where Mr. Willey's only living brother, P. P. Willey, and wife; Mrs. Willey's brothers and sisters: Mr. and Mrs. John E. Thurgood, Roland Thurgood, Mrs. John Holt and Mr. and Mrs. Willard Page will also be guests. After dinner they "will all go to Maraldia's." Their family reunion will be held at Robison's Grove in Weber canyon Monday. Aug. 24, 2
