Hot Cross Buns |

Ingredients
|
| 1lb Plain Flour | 1 oz Yeast | |
| 2 oz Sugar | 6 oz Sultanas or Mix of Currants, Sultanas & mixed peel | |
| 1/2 pint Milk | 2 oz Butter | |
| 2 Eggs | 1 tspn Mixed Spice | |
| Pinch Salt |

Method

| Dissolve
yeast in a little of the milk and mix all other dry ingredients to a sandy
consistency, then add milk, yeast mix and eggs, mixing into a dough.
Cover with a cloth and leave in a warm place to rise. (about 1/2 hour.) Divide dough into 12 pieces, mould into round buns and place on a greased baking tray. Set in a warm place to rise. Mark each bun with a cross with the back of a knife or pipe on a cross with a soft mixture of flour and water. Bake in a moderate oven
till done. (15-20 mins.) remove from oven and glaze tops by |
