EPHESUS CAKE

 

 

INGREDIENTS

 

   
  3/4 lb flour 6 ozs Castor sugar
  ¼ lb butter ½ lb sultanas
  2 ozs Candied peel grated rind of a lemon
  Pinch of salt 1 teaspoonful of Carbonate of Soda
  1 egg ½ breakfast cup full of milk
 

 

METHOD

 

  Melt butter and sugar, add dry ingredients, beat the egg with milk mixing well, lastly add the carbonate of soda, dissolved in a little milk.

Bake in a well-greased tin in a moderate oven
