EPHESUS CAKE |

INGREDIENTS

| 3/4 lb flour | 6 ozs Castor sugar | |
| ¼ lb butter | ½ lb sultanas | |
| 2 ozs Candied peel | grated rind of a lemon | |
| Pinch of salt | 1 teaspoonful of Carbonate of Soda | |
| 1 egg | ½ breakfast cup full of milk |

METHOD

| Melt butter and
sugar, add dry ingredients, beat the egg with milk mixing well, lastly add
the carbonate of soda, dissolved in a little milk.
Bake in a well-greased tin in a moderate oven |
