William Rays wife Louisa Slack was the daughter of  John M. Slack and Elizabeth Pipes ,Elizabeth was the daughter of  William Pipes and Sarah Pipes who were cousins .William Pipes father was Sylvanus Pipes and Sarahs Sylvanus's  brother Phillip Pipes ,both sons of John  Pipes Sr. There are stories and pages on Sylvanus Phillip and John Sr. The pages below are the property of Robert J. An interesting fact is that when John Pipes Sr.went to Surrey N.C he was neighbour of Zachariah Ray
