Probate of David Ross Gibson 's Will Pg. 1170 Extract registered Trust Disposition and Settlement by David Ross Gibson 1873 residing ,Perth
At Perth the 27th day of May 1873 in the presence John Tait Esquire Advocate Commissary of the county of Perth. Inventory of the estate stamped with 15 pound Sterling Tax. Solicitor John young.
David Ross Gibson Hotel Keeper in Perth having resolved to make Settlement of my affairs in the event of my death. He assigns as Executors William Ewan residing at Brioch Terrace Crieff. James Hay .cabinet maker ,Perth John Graham ,station master ,Bowling. Adam McKenzie, Deputy Sheriff ,clerk, and Thomas Love, Agent, Perth. He appoints them to be" tutors and Curators to my two children " and makes provisions for them to see to the childrens education.
"As it is my desire that my two children should after my decease be kept in the custody of my servant Jane Robertson provided she is willing to take them in charge as their guardian and I empower the said trustees should they see it proper and expedient to rent and furnish from my estate a comfortable dwelling house for the accomodation of my children and their said guardian leaving it in the power of my said trustees to dispense with the services of the said Jane Robertson if at any time they may deem it expedient to do so an appoint a suitable person to do that duty.
I empower my said trustees on my eldest son Peter Gibson attaining the age of 21 years to ascertain the full value of my estate and at that date divide the same into two shares and pay one share to my eldest son Peter Gibson and the other share to my second son John Gibson on attaining the age of 21 years. In the event of either of my children dying before attaining the age of 21 the estate will go to the survivor . In the event of the death of both of my children the estate should be divided into 3 equal parts . The first third to my brother James residing at Airdrie and his heirs, one third part to my brother Wiliam Gibson ,presently abroad and his heirs, and the other part to my sister Mary Gibson or Graham wife of the said John Graham and his heirs.
Inventory of the Personal Estate of the deceased David Ross Gibson ,Innkeeper County Place Inn Perth who died there on the 9th day of March 1873.
All cash and bank accounts and personal stock,.trade and household goods -Total - £665, 3s, 5d 665 pound 3 shilling and 5 pence .
Note : Today this would be equivalent to £28680.17 So it was a good amount of money in 1873.
Notes: Jane Robertson was the boys Aunt sister to their mother Jessie Robertson , it seems she ran the hotel for the boys and looked after them , she never married
