Sherrell "Shorty" Prestridge was a maintenance man, retired about 1996 from Candlewick Yarns. They were found dead in their home at Morrison's Crossroads on 6 April 1998. They had previously prepared a place to be buried at Jordan Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery.

PRESTRIDGE,

Newell, Al. Graveside services for Sherrell "Shorty" Prestridge, 57, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Jordan's Chapel Church Cemetery with Rev.Billy East officiating. The family will receive friends today beginning at 4 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee.

Mr. Prestridge died Monday at his home.

Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Rostofer of Newell, Jeri Boyd of Wedowee and Shirley Ireland of Newnan Ga.; two brothers, Earl Prestridge, a lifelong resident of Randolph County, had been employed with Candlewick Yarns, He was a member of Iduma Congregational Methodist Church. He was preceded by one daughter, Shelby Jean Prestridge.

He married Mavis Irene Taylor.

Newell, Al. Graveside services for Mavis Irene Traylor Prestridge, 52, will be today at 2 p.m. at Jordan's Chapel Church Cemetery with Rev. Billy East officiating Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge.

Mrs Prestridge died Monday at her home.

Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Rostofer on Newell, Jeri Boyd of Wedowee, and Shirley Ireland of Newnan Ga.; three sisters, Rosie Bushy of Douglasville, Ga , Lucille Pirkle of Carrollton, Ga. and Lix Farris of Newnan; three brothers, David Traylor, Annen Traylor, and Joe Traylor, all of Couglasville; and eight grandchildren.

Mrs Prestridge, a native of Elmore County, was a homemaker. She was a member of Iduma Congregational methodist Church. She was preceded by on daughter, Shelby Jean Prestridge.

Sherrell "Shorty" Prestridge and Mavis Irene Taylor had the following children:

She married twice.
She married Mr. Waldrop.
She married Mr. Ireland.

Shelby died BEF. APR 1998.

Notes and Supporting Information:

Waldrop was a crack cocaine addict who was convicted of stabbing his ailing grandparents, Sherrell and Irene Prestridge, to death on April 5, 1998, and stealing $900 from them.
