WHEATON COLLEGE
Wheaton College was an educational institution located at Wheaton, Du- Page County and under Congregational control. It was founded in 1853 as the Illinois Institute and was chartered under its present name in 1860.
Its early existence was one of struggle but of late years it has been established on a better foundation. In 1898 having $54,000 invested in productive funds and property aggregating $136,000. The faculty comprises fifteen professors and in 1898 there were 321 students in attendance. It is co-educational and instruction is given in business and preparatory studies as well as the fine arts, music and classical literature.
