Widow of John A. Ryan
dies at age of 84
Funeral is Saturday for
Mrs. Lucy Ryan; death
Comes Thursday evening
Final rites were held Saturday morning at 9:30 at St.
Mary's church for Mrs. Lucy L. Ryan, widow of John A. Ryan, who died at the age of 84 Thursday evening at 10:30 at Area hospital. She had been admitted to the hospital earlier in the evening of her death but had been in failing health for several years.
Officiating at the rites and also at the rosary recited
at Heinz funeral home Friday evening, was Rev. L. J. McDonald, pastor of the church. Burial was in New Calvary cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were J. Paul Burns, J. R.
Bloomfield, Denis Hall, Joe Formea, C. J. Lett and Henry Hoelting.
Mrs. Ryan was born in Carlinville May 4, 1882, a
daughter of Oliver and Sophia McIntosh Hall. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's church where she and Mr. Ryan were married Nov. 20, 1912.
Her survivors include three children, John E. Ryan
at home, Mrs. Virginia Melton of East St. Louis and James B. Ryan of Carlinville, and 14 grandchildren. |
