This tintype of an unidentified Union soldier is almost certainly not a Hain, since we have no records of any Hain family member serving. This tintype was amongst the Hain family photos that grandpa keeps. My Gr.Gr. Grandtather Wm. H. Hain received many letters from 2 different Petticrew cousins serving their country during the Civil War. One was Wm. M. Petticrew and the other was Wm. P. Petticrew. There was also a James Wiley mentioned in some of the Petticrew letters, but I have no genealogical record of a James Wiley. I've always believed this to be Wm. M. Petticrew because it is consistent with his description. | |||||||||||||
