| In 1873 my grandfather, Major August Hahr,
recorded the first family tree of the Hahr family (as far as we know). My
father, Mauritz Hahr, effectively contributed to the genealogical
investigation which was published in 1893 in the ‘Svenska Ättartal’
(Swedish Lineage Tables). My second cousin,
Theodor [Ludwig Felix] Hahr in Pernau, followed them in
1937 with his exemplary chronicle of the Baltic branch of the family.
Through them I learned to cherish our family and its memories. In grateful remembrance of these predecessors and of all those who have assisted me, I hereby pass onto the Hahr family this genealogical survey, with its data complete wherever this has been possible, and supported by official records. My ultimate goal has been to bridge-over lands and seas which nowadays separate the branches of the family, and re-knit the mutual bonds which once united them. May this goal be achieved! |
