Hiram and Clarissa moved to Hague, NY sometime before 1850 (Hiram was listed in the 1840 census for Ticonderoga, NY). Hiram's father, Robert, fought in the American Revolution. Hiram's brother, Nehemiah, married Lucy Holman. Lucy was the daughter of Thurston and  Submit (Park) Holman, who came to Hague around 1802-1803.

Hiram was listed as a blacksmith in both the 1850 Federal Census and the 1855 New York Census (both for Hague, Warren Co., NY).

        Edwin was a farmer. Edwin and Diantha had 7 children.

Cynthia and Holden had 5 children.

Jane E. Rand                        About 1835 - September 22, 1878
    Dr. Julius C. Salter          About 1826 - ?

Dr Julius C. Salter and his family came to Hague, NY before 1855.

He enlisted as a Hospital Steward in the 23rd Light Artillery Regiment, New York, on September 28, 1861. He was promoted to Full Assistant Surgeon on October 13, 1863. He was discharged December 31, 1864. (Civil War Notes from ancestry.com.)

Jane and Julius had 3 children.

Julia A. Rand        January 28, 1840 - March 14, 1913                   
    Solomon Robbins         August 7, 1830 - March 2, 1908                (John Robbins + Susan Frasier)

Solomon enlisted on August 12, 1862 in Company D,118th New York Infantry. He served for 23 months.

Julia and Solomon had 9 children.

    Christopher Bruce             About 1835 - ?

Mary A. Rand                        About 1846 - February 11, 1909
    Levi Newton                       April 29, 1842 - May 10, 1921                  (George W. Newton + Catherine Ann Wallace)

Levi enlisted in the 8^th New York Infantry on July 7, 1863. He transferred to the 12^th New York Infantry in 1864. He served about 13 months.

Mary and Levi had 3 children.

Hiram A. Rand,Jr           May 5, 1847 - October 23, 1920
    Lorana Densmore              June 20, 1846 - October 21, 1918                (Francis Densmore + Julia A. Youngs)

On July 28, 1861 Hiram enlisted in the 23^rd Independent Battery of the New York Light Artillery. He was discharged from service on July 24, 1865.

Hiram built a small hotel where the current Catholic Church was constructed in1923 (Hague, Warren Co., NY.

Hiram and Lorana had 2 children.
