Virgie Scalf Warren of Cincinnati, Ohio

Virgie Scalf Warren, 83, of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Knox County passed away Sunday, March 7, 1999 in the Franciscan Hospital in Mount Airy, Ohio.  Funeral services were held in the chapel of the Hopper Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 10 at 3 p.m. with the Rev. James Vandy officiating. Burial followed in the Warren Cemetery at Himyar. Hopper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Virgie was the daughter of the late Samuel (Saul) Scalf and Ellen Jackson Scalf born to them on December 4, 1915 at Ogle, Kentucky.  Additional Information: Haddock descendant
She was the wife of the late Nealy Warren. 

 

 Lucy Bright Mills Smith

Lucy Bright Mills Smith, age 90, Barbourville, was born on Feb 12, 1912, in Knox County, KY.  She died Sept 10, 2002. Lucy was survived by her daughter, Mildred Bright and husband Kenneth of Barbourville; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sisters, Mattie Franks and husband Bill of Middletown, Ohio; Norma Averell of Palm Coast, FL, and Wilma Stamper of Middletown, Ohio; her brothers Delmar Bright and wife Loretta of Dewitt, Lawrence Bright, Jr. and wife Evelyn of Barbourville and Winston Bright; her sister-in-law, Dora Bright of Gray. 
Lucy Bright was a daughter of the late Lawrence Bright and Laura Wilford Bright.  Funeral services were conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, Sept 14th with Rev. Earl Hammons and the Rev. Columbus Hensley officiating. 
She passed away in the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, Tuesday, Sept 10, 2002.    Burial was in the Bright Cemetery at Hammond. Hopper Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
On Jan 25, 1930, she united in marriage with Ed Mills, who preceded her in death. On Feb 12, 1983, she united in marriage to William Smith, who preceded her in death.  Additional Information: Lucy was a Mills and Haddock descendant and married a Mills and Haddock descendant.

Charity Smith Mills, of Barbourville

Charity Smith Mills, 74, of Barbourville, passed away Monday, October 26, 1998 at her home.  In December 1941, she united in marriage with Reed P. Mills in Knox County. 
She was the daughter of the late Nelson and Mariah Hale Smith born on September 24, 1924 in Knox County In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Reed, on January 7, 1972; 
Mrs. Mills was the former owner and operator of several local restaurants.  Funeral services were conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, October 28, 1998 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. W.B. Bingham officiating. Burial followed in the Henry Mills Cemetery at Dewitt.

 

Lettie Baker Gambrel of Flat Lick

Lettie Baker Gambrel, 89, of Flat Lick passed away Tuesday, October 20, 1998 in the Pineville Community Hospital.   On July 5, 1925 she united in marriage with Dee Gambrel.   
She was the daughter of the late Tilden and Cordia (Mills) Baker.   Funeral services were held in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, October 23 at 11 a.m. with Revs. Larry Sowders and John Clark officiating. Burial followed in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro, KY
