Gunter News: Elsworth Linebarger and family, Perry Roller and family and Mrs. Caroline Prier and two daughters were Sunday visitors at Sig Whittington's.

Gunter News: Mrs. Tennie Ennes and family visited with her mother, Mrs. Matilda Riddle, Sunday.

Washburn Prairie News: Grandpa Marshall of Washburn is visiting at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. T. Raines of this place.

Washburn Prairie News: Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Stubblefield and children of Mano visited the latter's parents, J. S. Varner and wife, Thursday night.

Shell Knob News: Claud Brock is still at home where he will remain until about the first of next month when he will start for Montana where he has a job on a cattle ranch.

Exeter News: Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cullup came in from New Mexico Sunday, March 14, to visit relatives and friends. [Research Note: Edward Cullup was married Edna Skelton. She later married Thomas J. Van Zandt. She was a Zachariah Haddock descendant.]

Exeter News: Mrs. Mary Boozier of Fayetteville, Ark., visited her brother J. B. Graham and family last week.

Bethel News: James Marbut lost a good horse last week with blind staggers.

Bethel News: Misses Jessie, Elsie and Ida Dummitt of Kings Prairie visited Miss Lena Marbut Sunday.

Washburn News: Walter Jones and family spent a few days in Monett visiting his sister, Mrs. Meador, Mrs. Jones, remained till Monday to have some dental work done.

Washburn News: Mrs. S. A. Shelton and daughter, Miss Lillian, of near Eagle Rock, visited her sister-in-law, Mrs. Augusta Senter from Saturday to Tuesday.

Washburn News: Miss Estella Pease is on the sick list this week.

Washburn News: Mrs. Maud Houston and daughters Nadine and Margaret, visited their grandfather, Arch Roller, and family last week.

Pleasant Ridge News: Tom Marbut and Miss Verna Black were married Sunday morning at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Black. Rev. Melvin Henson performed the ceremony. We wish them a long and happy life.

Pleasant Ridge News: Mrs. James Hilton of near Jenkins visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John McClellan, Saturday night.

Pleasant Ridge News: Mr. and Mrs. Tilman Ellis, of Monett visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ellis, the last of last week.

Pleasant Ridge News: Miss Flora Henson and little brother, of near Purdy, visited their aunt, Mrs. Aaron Black, Saturday.

Mineral Springs News: C. L. Gleason and daughter, Emily, came in last week from Kansas to attend his mother, Mrs. Gleason, who has been sick but is improving now.

Mineral Springs News: Mrs. Wisdom, J. M. Sisney's mother and her children are moving from Mt. Vernon to J. M. Sisney's farm on the Eagle Rock road. They are building a house and intend to work there this summer. Mr. Wisdom died about a month ago.

Shady Grove News: W. L. Freeze, the Rawleigh medicine man, was in this neighborhood last week.

Rev. J. T. Brattin visited his daughter, Mrs. Calvin Henderson and family the latter part of last week and attended Friday the closing exercises of the Ozark School taught by Calvin Henderson.

The Washburn School closed Saturday with T. J. Hodge, Mrs. Elva Thomas, P. R. Moffatt and Georgia Jayne as teachers. This is Mr. Hodge's second term at Washburn as principal of the school and the patrons of the district speak very complimentary about his work.

Circuit Clerk, J. L. Vanhorn and family attended Thursday the J.D. Riddle funeral held at Mt. Pleasant Church, northwest of Purdy.

Elder T. J. Leakey and Mrs. Mattie J. Boyd were united in marriage at Ft. Scott, Kan., on Feb. 28th.  [Click here to read]

Alfred Medlin was found dead in a road near the Pilant farm, north of town, Friday about 12:30 o'clock. [Click here to read]

Boyce Boren, formerly editor of the Wheaton Journal, was a Cassville, visitor, Tuesday.

Mrs. Nicea Cameron of Butterfield, died Friday night at the home of her son, J. M. Cameron.   [Click here to read]

Sheriff G. M. Brixey has purchased of J. E. Tucker two fine, registered jacks, known as Jumbo and Golden Tip. Mr. Brixey states they will make this season beginning April 1, at his barn in Cassville.

Osa Elrod who several years ago resided south of town, died at his home.  [Click here to read]

The Wheaton Journal states that Mrs. John Swindle of Shoal Creek has gone to California to visit relatives and to attend the Panama Exposition.

F. A. Archibald of Purdy is at Rogers, Ark., assisting in the typhoid fever epidemic.

W. D. Wainright, merchant at McDowell, was in Cassville on business, Thursday.

Oak Ridge News: Mr. Scott who lives east of Oak Ridge has three children sick, two little girls with typhoid fever and a boy age 17, who is seriously sick. His son had the measles and the fever last July and has never got stout.

Oak Ridge News: Jim Cooper is helping Frank Reynolds on his barn near Madry.

Mano News: J. H. Aldridge and E. B. Brock of this place and J.C. Whittington, E. Couch and Albert Farewell of Eagle Rock attended I.O.O.F. Lodge at Cassville Friday night.

Munsey News: F. Ball and family, Will Ball, Frank Tucker, John Prier, Will Reed, Leonard Prier and Eva Prier were Sunday visitors at Charles Ball's.

Shell Knob News: Miss Andoe, the teacher at Field School, has the pneumonia fever.

Shell Knob News: A. A. Thurman and Glenn Salyor are attending court at Cassville this week.

Sunnyside News: Jess Reed has rented his land to L. B. Lumbard and his house to his mother who will move from Mt. Vernon soon.

Sunnyside News: Miss Ella Jung has returned home from Garfield where she has been for sometime.

Sunnyside News: A Mr. Owens of near Bayless died Friday. He was 75 years old. Rheumatism was the cause of his death. He was laid to rest in the Bayless Cemetery Saturday, March 20th. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the community.

Butterfield News: Will Ferguson is preparing to move tot he Amos property.

Flat Creek News: Oma Carney spent a few days last week with her cousin, Miss Opal Wilson and attended the revival at the Jones school house.

Pleasant Ridge News: Roscoe Carlin and family have moved to Monett.

Pleasant Ridge News: Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Bolton left for California last Wednesday to visit their son, Scott and daughter Mrs. Nancy Taylor.

Pleasant Ridge News: Leonard Hilburn and Miss Theo Crouch went to Cassville last Wednesday and were married. Rev. Smallwood performed the ceremony. We wish them a happy life.

Pleasant Ridge News:  Death has entered our neighborhood again and taken another one of our young folks, Miss Ethel Lonberg died Monday morning about three o'clock after suffering only a few weeks of leakage of the heart. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved parents, brothers and sisters.

Seligman News: Ruben Skelton, about 75 years old and an old settler, died Monday. He had a wide acquaintance and was one of the most highly respected of men. He will be greatly missed in the community where he so long lived.

Arnhart News: Carl Hemphill, Omer Shepherd and Paul Jones finished the 8th grade work in the Arnhart school.

Willow Brook News: The Jenkins school will close Saturday, March 26, the Lone Elm school will close Saturday, April 4.

Willow Brook News: Pearl Widders and children have been visiting home folks at Cross Hollows. Her brother, Vernal Land, of West Mineral, Kan., also paid them a visit.

New Salem News: Miss Bessie Summey, who has for some time been employed at the Gladden hotel at Seligman was brought home Tuesday of last week with the smallpox. Miss Josie also came home to wait on her, as she has been vaccinated and there is probably no danger in her taking the disease. The rest of the family are away from home.

New Salem News: Crawford Brixey is having quite a siege of lagrippe.  A physician was called to see him Saturday night.

Cross Hollows News: Floyd, the sixteen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Scott was called to the Great Beyond Wednesday night, March 17. He was a very bright boy and bore his suffering patiently and tried to sing a song just before he died. On Saturday night the death Angel called again at the house and took Floyd's little six year old sister to join him in eternity. This brings great sorrow to their parents and family, but God "doeth all things well".  We extend our heartfelt sympathy in their hour of sadness. 

Cross Hollows News: James Stockton of Lone Elm was up to see his brother-in-law, C.C. Law, Sunday. We are sorry to learn Mr. Law seems to be getting worse at this writing.

Cross Hollows News: We are sorry to hear of the death of Mrs. Hoover Beeson, better known as Aunt Mat Hudson, who died Saturday. She had been paralyzed for six years and bore her suffering patiently.  She said she was just here waiting for the "Good Master" to call her. Her body was laid to rest in Mineral Springs Cemetery Sunday March 20 to await the resurrection day.

A son of E. B. Scott of the Oak Ridge locality died Wednesday of last week, of brain trouble, age 16 years. A six year old daughter also died Sunday.  

Henry Branstetter, 86 years old, died in this city, Friday following an extended illness of old age and other ailments. [Click here to read]

Washburn News: A. P. Boles Horticultural agent for the Frisco development and his assistant, Mr. Eicher, will be here Tuesday, and give a few demonstration of spraying and pruning on Wm. Hancocks' orchard. Later: We understand the demonstration was postponed until Saturday, on account of the bad weather.

Washburn News: Garland Park is having a new poultry house built.

Bethel News: Mrs. A. S. Thomas is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Riddle, of Jenkins.

Forest Grove News: Eliza Sharp will work for L. Wolfenbarger this coming season.

McDowell News: Noah Williams and wife of Kansas City were called to the bedside of Mrs. William's mother, Mrs. Mathews, who has been sick.

Line News: Miss Auda Cobb closed a successful term of school last Friday. The patrons of the district all took in dinner and surprised Miss Auda. A nice dinner was spread at the noon hour. After dinner the teacher passed her treat and all returned to their homes.

Arnhart News: Marion Foyster and wife were called the bedside of his mother, Mrs. Tennie Foyster, on Dry Hollow, Friday. She is reported very sick.

Arnhart News: Miss Anna Bowman west of Purdy visited her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Harris, from Saturday to Monday.

Butterfield News: Mr. Perkins moved to the Wallace property Saturday for a short time, until he gets ready to start to Kansas. Mr. Wilkerson has moved his place which he bought from Mr. Perkins.

Mineral Springs News: Grandpa Gurley visited his daughters, Mrs. Hankins and Mrs. B. C. McClure a part of last week.

Mrs. Stuckey of Columbus, Kan, is here attending her son, Ross Stuckey, who is dangerously sick of typhoid.

Mrs. Mildred Bryan Dead: Mrs. Mildred Wear Bryan, who until some years ago, lived in Cassville a number of years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. D. McClure, at Claremore, Okla., Thursday March 25, 1915, following several months sickness of cancer. [Click here to read]

New Salem News: Mrs. May Brixey has received a letter from her sister, Miss Ethel Payne of Wanda, announcing her wedding to Arel Heilig?, of Fairview, which occurred on Friday, April 2, at Neosho. Her many friends in this vicitny join in congratulations and best wishes.

New Salem News: James Poe and family visited Sunday with his sister, Mrs. Sam Mane and family of Washburn.

Cross Hollows News: Mrs. Laney and son, Jerry, spent Sunday with her daughter, Mrs. Robert Rausch of near Butterfield.

Cross Hollows News: Mrs. Frank Dilbeck and daughter, Mrs. Will Mills, spent Sunday afternoon at the home of C. C. Laws. We are sorry to hear that Mr. Laws still stays very low and is in a very low condition at this writing. The dreadful diseases is consumption.

Madry News: Mr. and Mrs. Wilburn Hunt visited with her parents Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Burk, Sunday.

Washburn News: Mrs. J. A. Frost visited her son, K. A. Frost, and wife at Rogers, Ark., Tuesday.

The infant babe of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Hale died Friday night and its body was interred at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Saturday.

J. H. Baird has returned from an extended visit with his daughter, Mrs. Jesse Boren, and family of Ennes, Texas.

The barn with practically all its contents, of J. C. Skelton who resides near Eagle Rock, burned Monday night about 10 o'clock. The origin of the fire is not known. Only one horse, a carriage and plow were saved. All other contents including four horses, a number of farm implements, hay and corn, etc., were burned. The loss is estimated at $1500. The barn carried $400 insurance.

Volly Doty closed a successful school at Star last Friday. The ladies of the district spread a bountiful dinner and the afternoon was spent with recitations and dialogues. Every one seem to enjoy the occasion.

Obituary: Harry Carney who was recently shot and killed in the west was a son of John Carney.  [Click here to read]

John Kisler of near town received a telegram Monday announcing that his brother, Jake Kisler, was killed Sunday at Birmingham, Washington. He resided at Walla Walla, Wash. The message did not give any particulars. Mr. Kisler and son, Newton, left for Walla Walla, Monday evening.

Lone Elm News: Mrs. Lillie Easeman of Purdy attended Tuesday the funeral of her grandmother, Mrs. Barnes.

Seligman News: L. C. Tatman was again elected principal of the Seligman High School. Mr. Tatman has made good here and the people are well pleased with his work. Mr. Tatman is a nice young man and as one of the board remarked has the "timber in him."

New Salem News: Mrs. Claud Roller and children of Washburn visited Saturday with her sister, Mrs. Floyd Roller. They also were dinner guests of Robert Roller and wife Sunday.

New Salem News: We understand G. A. Crane of Purdy and Miss Georgia Jayne of Washburn Prairie were recently married. We join their many friends in congratulations.

Union Valley News: Grant Eden received word Monday morning that his half-brother Wm. Eden of Arkansas was dead.

Union Valley Mrs. Fred Cole and children spend Sunday with Mrs. Lot Senseney.

Union Valley News: Donald Senseney visited his grandfather Dr. Senseney, of Stark City, Saturday.

Union Valley News: Mrs. Eva Smith and daughter, Fredia, visited relatives at Seligman Saturday and Sunday.

Rock Creek News: Church was well attended Saturday and Sunday at Mano. Rev. Ireland preached for us Sunday and attended the ordinance of baptism. Six were baptized. They were Elias Shaffer, Finis Easley, Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Gee and Mr. and Mrs. Owen Stephenson.

Rock Creek News: Misses Delpha Ethridge, Lola McCord, Bessie and Ethel James and Vica Cooper and Fred cooper and Albert Clanton all of Shell Knob attended church and baptizing at Mano Sunday.

Independence News: Among those who attended the Easter dinner at the home of Chas. Cole were Mr. and Mrs. Will Cole, Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Bowman, Mrs. Bass and two daughters, Pearl and Jewell, Marvell Baldwin, James Sapp and family and Olaf Baldwin.

Frank Perkins, who several years ago resided in the Pasley locality, died Tuesday of last week at Cherryvale, Kan., age about 70 years. His remains were brought to Seligman Wednesday of last week for burial. He was born and reared to manhood near Seligman. Following his residence there he lived for sometime on the old Henbest farm and a part of the C. A. James farm south of town. He is survived by six children, two sons and four daughters. He was an uncle of Mrs. C. M. Sparkman of this city and Mrs. Geo. Porter south of town.

Miss Nannie Hamilton, teacher in the Purdy school, visited her sister, Mrs. W. S. Price, and family Sunday.

Mrs. F. N. Reese is visiting her mother, Mrs. Jeffries, and other relatives at Monett.

H. C. Shaw is expecting his mother, Mrs. H. G. Shaw, who for the past year has been living in Iowa, to arrive in Cassville, this week for an extended visit.

Wayne News: Mrs. F. Roblyer returned Sunday night from a week's visit with her son, Frank of Dewey, Oklahoma.

Washburn Prairie News: Mr. and Mrs. S.T. Sims of Horner, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hall and grandson, Erwin Newman, of Exeter and C. M. Sparkman and grandson Milton, of Cassville spent Sunday with their father, M. B. Sparkman. Mr. Sparkman returned home with Mr. and Mrs. Hall for a few days visit. 

Washburn Prairie News: Misses Ella and Mary Mosley of Pea Ridge, Ark., are visiting at the home of their uncle, R. J. Foster.

Hazel Dell News: Mrs. Boucher and daughters, Carrie and Delpha were shopping in Butterfield Friday.

Mt Pleasant News: Two funerals were held at this place Saturday, April 17. Mr. Chisem of near Clark. Funeral services were conducted by Revs. Brattin and Goodnight. The bereaved families have our sympathy.

G. A. Crane has been elected principal of the Washburn school for the coming year. Mr. Crane is a successful and energetic teacher and we predict for him much success as head of the Washburn School.

Miss Rosa Shaffer closed a successful term of school at Eagle Rock, Friday.

Born to Dr. and Mrs. E. C. Taylor of Roaring River, April 21, a daughter.

Mrs. H. A. Gardner and little son, Joe, are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Galloway.

Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Arbuckle south of town have received the announcement of the marriage of their youngest son, Harold, to a young lady at Uniontown, Pa. The wedding occurred April 7. Harold is located at Fairmount, West Virginia.

William Eden, father of Jonathan and Francis Eden of stone Prairie, died last week at Kingston, Ark. He formerly resided near Monett.

Mrs. Laura May Chesem departed this life, after a few days illness with paralysis at her home in Purdy on April 16, 1915, age 68 years, 1 month and 25 days.  [Click here to read]

Madry News: James Hunt passed away at his home at Madry, Friday morning, April 23, 1915. He had been ill over a year with Brights disease., not being confined to this bed until the last few weeks. The family has our sympathy.

New Salem News: Al. Burton's baby has been dangerously sick with membranous croup, but it is reported to be better.

Cross Hollows News: Mrs. Laney and son, Jerry visited her daughter, Mrs. Robert Rausch, of near Butterfield, Sunday.

Cross Hollows News: We are sorry to hear C. C. Laws is no better and is gradually growing weaker.

Cross Hollows News: We learn that Emmett Nafus and Miss Tensie Payne were married Sunday. We wish them long and happy life.

Munsey News: we understand Homer West has been employed as teacher of the Munsey school for next year.

Washburn Prairie News: Mr. and Mrs. Otto Ruppert and baby of Rocky Comfort visited at the home of the latter's parent's J. A. Longley and wife, Saturday and Sunday.

Arnhart News: Carl Hemphill has purchased a new buggy.

Seligman News: Miss Wanda Bennett will teach at the Peoples School and Miss Jayne of Washburn will teach at Lone Star, just south of town.

Seligman News: News has been received by Mrs. John Baker, of the death of an aunt who lived on White River.

Seligman News: Mrs. Mattie McRay of Monett was in town the last of the week. She was called her on account of the sickness of her father, D. H. Whitener.

Washburn News: Born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Black, Saturday, April 24, a daughter.

Washburn News: Miss Emma Akers and little neice [niece] Viola Richland, are here visiting the former's sister, Mr. Porter. 

Mrs. Hobbs and granddaughters, Misses Helen Perry and Margaret Hesse, visited at Monett Saturday and Sunday.

G. A. Isbel was at Springfield Saturday and Sunday visiting his sister, Mrs. A.G. Walker, and family.

Judge B. L. Evans has been quite sick at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. H. Martin.
