From the family and photo files of Larry Wilson, Barry Co., MO, Researcher

This is a school picture of the students at Scholten School about 1892.

He stated that the little boy sitting in the window is his grandfather, Erb Wilson, born in 1885 - he appears maybe 7 or 8. He has three siblings in the picture.

The tallest boy on the back row - also in front of a window - is Ebonezer "Ebb" Wilson (born 1879). To his right is a sister, Ida Mae Wilson (born 1874); she was married in April 1892. The girl with the extremely long hair standing at the right end of the second row is Azoris Wilson (born 1876). The Wilson family lived in the Crane Creek Community, West of the Osa Cemetery.  Ebb and Ida Mae Wise are buried there.

Two little children on the front row are holding slates. One reads: "Scholten School," and the other reads "Charles Ellis, Teacher." The teacher is standing in the center of the photo between the back and second rows. Someone told me that he suddenly dropped dead on the school ground.

Corinth School

Billie Jines was the author of this article that was written about Corinth School. The managing editor of The Times of NE Benton Co., AR, paper sent this copy of the names along with the picture so that it could be included in our Barry County, MO, school page. Many of these students lived in Barry County, just across the line in MO.

Thanks to Nancy Seefeldt, Becky Tyson, and Billie Jines for helping this to come together so that we can now enjoy the history of this photo and of Corinth School.
