Historic Strawhun School
The Strawhun School operated from 1880 through 1970 when it the school district was eliminated. It seems to have been the center of a lot of community activities including "pie suppers". The school propery was located on Gaddy Road thus making sure that both of the contributors of the land were given due credit. Map John R Strawhun is my great-great grandfather and it fills me with pride to know that one of ancestors prized education as much as I do. P. M. Gaddy is the great-great grandfather of Roy Strawhun and I know that he feels the same pride that I do in our ancestors. Page created and designed by |
