First Generation

1. John B NIXON 1, 2, 3, 4 was born in Apr 1845 in GA. He died after 1902 in Prob Marshall Co, AL.

He is listed in his early years in census records as John B. Hatcher. I don't know if he's the natural child of Mansfield Nixon or his adopted son. His brother Uriah went by both Hatcher and Nixon and it's possible that John did the same until he reached adulthood and married.

~Email from Linda Roholt:So far, I haven't been able to link Sina Childress to the Cherokee line. According to my contact, Sina wouldn't be a daughter of Isaac Childress, who came into Marshall Co. and was a minister, but there has to be some kind of connection as I recall in an email between her and I that Irena Nixon McClendon (sister of Gay) is buried next to Julius Childress, who was a son of Isaac Childress. This would seem to say our Sina is a near relative of this Cherokee Childress line.

They had the following children:

+ 2 F i Irena J NIXON
+ 3 F ii Samantha Gay NIXON
+ 4 F iii Martha E NIXON
+ 5 M iv Isaac C NIXON
+ 6 F v Ahenoam B NIXON

He accidentally shot his cousin, Samuel J. "Sam" Childress when he was cleaning his gun.
Julius married Mary CHAMBLEE on 29 Nov 1907 in Marshall Co, AL. Mary died in Marshall Co, AL (prob).
8 F vii Nancy E NIXON 1, 2, 3 was born in Dec 1885 in Marshall Co, AL. She died in Marshall Co, AL (prob).
9 M viii John B NIXON Jr 1, 2, 3 was born in Jul 1888 in Marshall Co, AL. He died in Marshall Co, AL.

Debbie Baker's uncle recalls the story of this boy have taken the family horse & wagon to town on an errand, arrived home dead of unknown causes, the horse having pulled the wagon back home with the boy's body inside. (Notes - Linda Roholt).
