Mrs. J.J. Musick Oldest Lamkin Resident, Dies
Funeral Services were held at the graveside in the Gentry's Mill Cemetery Wednesday of last
week for Mrs. Alice Musick, 83, who passed away Tuesday. Mrs. Musick was the oldest
resident of Lamkin community and had, perhaps, lived in the community a greater number of
years than any other person. The Rev. Schultz, pastor of the Gustine Methodist Church, was
the officiating minister. The Bob Riley Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
Born in Bell County, Mrs. Musick was married there to J.J. Musick. They came to the Lamkin
Community 54 years ago where they lived and reared their family. Of their 13 children, nine
survive their mother. Among them are seven sons, W.F. Musick, Iredell; John Musick, New
Mexico; Rance Musick, Dublin; K. and Ivor Musick, Gustine; Roy and Mark Musick,
Hamilton; two daughters, Mrs. Faye Neal, Hamilton and Miss Alice Musick, Lamkin. Thirty-
four grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren also survive. She was a member of the
Methodist Church from girlhood.

Since none of these people are mentioned in her obituary, we are left to conclude that we got her mixed up with another Lena Mae/May Holley/Holly.

Buried Monday
On Monday afternoon, June 22, the Mortal of Miss Lena Mae Holley was laid to rest in the Oakwood Cemetery, following the rites held at the home of her mother, Mrs. Kitty Holley, the Rev. L. E. Strickland officiating, assisted by Rev. James Morgan.
Since the Rev. Strickland had baptized Miss Holley at age 14, it was very fitting that he make the beautiful tribute to her memory that he did.
Left to moan her early departure, besides her mother and father, are a host of relatives, near and remote, as well as a number of friends.
Baileys were funeral directors, and the following were pall bearers, George Stroud, Maxie Tubb, Jimmie Moore, Cecil Hardin, Cecil Childress, and Bill Moore.
The following out-of-town people were in attendance at the Holley funeral: Mrs. Hendrix. Miss Gertrude downing, Mrs. W.W. Frazier, Dallas, Mr. And Mrs Dave Holley, Mrs. Ludewick, Mrs. Major Jones, Palestine, Mrs. Bascom Bently, Huntsville, Mrs. Ralph Connally, Mrs. Louise Johnson, Kilgore.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Hortense Holley, 79, of Oakwood, who died Friday morning in a local nursing home, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Memorial Baptist Church, Oakwood, with the Rev. Jimmy J. Nedbalek and the Rev. Clayton Day officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood City Cemetery. The body will be at Hassell & Foster until carried to the church.
A native of Oklahoma, she lived in Oakwood for over 40 years, and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.
Before retiring, she was a registered nurse and beautician. She was the widow of Kit Holley, who died in 1955.
Survivors are: two brothers, Lloyd Walker and Vernon Walker; a sister, Mrs. Claudie Gregg, all of Bakersfield, Calif, and several nieces and nephews.

Dave W. Holley Rites Wednesday
Friends here mourned today the death of Dave W. Holley, 70, a resident of Palestine for 40 years.
Mr. Holley died at 11 p.m. Sunday at his home, 1018 Woodland Drive. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m.
Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. John E. McLean officiating. Burial will be in New Addition Cemetery.
Quiet and mild-mannered, Mr. Holley built up a friendship with countless people during the many years he worked at Silliman Hardware Store here.
Born and reared at Oakwood, he came to Palestine over 40 years ago to work at the store and remained there until his retirement in 1949. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Dave Holley, Jr.; two daughters, Mrs Richard Laub and Mrs. Stanford McNair, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; a step-son, W. M. Knowles; three brothers, Kit and Will Holley of Oakwood and Dick Holley of Abilene; a sister, Mrs. John Gist, Oakwood; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers: Gordon Broyles, Sr., Clarence Drane, Gordon Hancock, Ernest Peters, Frank Highams, A. T. Epperson, Earl Belt and Jack Carroway.
David married Mattie MCMILLAN. Mattie was born about 1890 in Leon Co, TX. She died on 4 Mar 1970 in Houston, Harris, TX. She was buried in New Addition Cemetery, Palestine, Anderson, TX.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie (Dave W.) Holley, mother of W. M. Knowles of Palestine, were scheduled at 2:30 p.m. today in the First Presbyterian Church here with the Rev. W.S. Blanton officiating. Burial was to follow in the New Addition Cemetry under the direction fo Bailey Funeral Home.
Mrs. Holley died Saturday afternoon in a Houston hospital at the age of 80. She made her home at 27 Rambling Road here.
Pallbearers named for the funeral included: Henry Davenport, Gordon B. Broyles, Rowe Turner, Lester Hamilton, Clarence Krohn, Werner Kuhne, Vernon Calhoun, J. V. Meyer, Tommy A, Pickle, Bud Wommack, Walter Sussdorf and Clyde Hanks. All officers of First Presbyterian church were named as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Holley is survived by two sons, Dave Holley of New Orleans and W. M. Knowles of Palestine; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Laub and Mrs Sanford McNair, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, T. M. McMillan of Oakwood; a sister, Mrs. Irma Rogers of Leona, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
