1. Captain James McLAUGHLIN 1, 2 was born in 1717 in prob Ireland or Scotland. He died 3 on 4 Sep 1779 in Rowan Co, NC.
Just looking at a few of the records I have been able to find, the Carothers and Christy families were also in Bucks Co, PA at the same time as the McGlaughlins/McLaughlin and Harvey families.

LAND:He bought 320 acres in Rowan County near the Thyratira community from John Patton on 5 Nov 1778 (Bk8 Pg 535)
Received a land grant in NC of 243 acres on 1 Jul 1779 (Book 9 pg 58)
RELIGION: He was a member of the Red Hill Presbyterian Church in Tinicum Twp, Bucks, PA where he served on the building committee. After he and Mary moved to Rowan County, they became members of the Thyatira Presbyterian Church.
SIBLINGS: He might have a brother, Daniel McLaughlin who owned land in Bucks Co, PA in 1753 according to the land records for Buck Co, PA.
MILITARY: He was captain of the Plumstead Company which was formed for the protection of the settlers in the Plumstead area along the Tohickon.
James married Mary HART 1, 2, 3 daughter of Samuel HART and Elizabeth before 1750 in Bucks Co, PA. Mary was born in 1722 in Bucks Co, PA. She died before 1816 in Rowan Co, NC.
