PLAQUEMINE n Lillian Baham Bateman, 88, a lifelong resident of Washington Parish, died Tuesday in River West Hospital in Plaquemine. A 1933 graduate of Mt. Hermon High School and a member of Clifton Baptist Church for over 65 years, she was an active participant in and supporter of the Washington Parish Free Fair all her life.
Survivors include a son, William Phillip Bateman of Franklinton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rosamond and Louis Nicolosi of Plauemine, Ruth and Allen Crowe of Jonesborough, TN, and Donna and Don Kilbourne of Clifton; a brother, James Baham of Franklinton; a sister, Jessie Baham Penton of Bogalusa; grandchildren, Rachel Nicolosi, Sharla and Mike Bond, David Madison Nicolosi, Louis Nicolosi Jr., Don and Marielle Larson, Kathy and John Hood, Andrea and Ken Schultz, Craig Larson, Kristal Bateman, and Beth and Todd Foust; step-grandchildren, David Crowe and Sharon Collins; great-grandchildren; Greyson Bond, Kristina Larson, Rebeka Larson, John David Hood, Shayne Shultz, Kathleen Shultz, Madison Foust, and Gabriell Foust; and step-great-grandchildren, Christopher Collins and Zachary Collins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Madison E. Bateman; her parents, Phillip and Fannie Bankston Baham; a sister, Viola Baham Moody; and a grandchild, Lisa Lamont Nicolosi.
Visitation will be held at Crain Funeral Home tomorrow from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. at Clifton Baptist Church, 27312 LA Hwy. 25, Franklinton, until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Lt. Col. Don Larson will officiate at the service. Burial will follow in the Ellis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-1942.

FRANKLINTON Egbert Lavern "Jake" Magee, died Wednesday at North Oaks Medical Center, at the age of 82. He was a retired mechanic and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Lillie Mae Spears Magee of Franklinton; one brother, Hamp Magee of Madison, AL; two sisters, Patsy Kistner of New Orleans and Kay Magee of Port Allen. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Magee; one sister, Doris M. Burkhalter and one brother, Russell Magee.
Visitation will be at the Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. tomorrow.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the funeral home chapel with the Eld. Ottis Barber officiating.
Burial will be in the Roberts Cemetery near Sunny Hill.

FRANKLINTON n Lillie Mae Spears Magee, 62, a resident of Franklinton, died at 2:45 a.m. yesterday in Riverside Medical Center. She was a member of Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church and the widow of E.L. "Jake" Magee.
Survivors include two brothers, Earl Spears of Bogalusa and Glen Spears of Tylertown; two sisters, Lois McMahan of Bogalusa and Joyce Hooks of Bay St. Louis, MS; a sister-in-law, Kay Magee of Port Allen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Jenkins and Rosa Lee Magee.
Visitation will be held at Crain Funeral Home from 6-10 p.m. today and will continue after 9 a.m. tomorrow until time of the funeral service, to be conducted from the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Roberts Cemetery near Sunnyhill.

Oscar Elmer Alford died March 3rd and buried in the Roberts cemetery. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Jack Alford, and was born on 12-16-1876. In 3-1906, he married Nola Alford and had a son, Harold. He married second Ann Alford, a sister to his first wife, and had 2 sons. Survivors are 2 sons, W.H. of Sunny Hill and Carl (Bob) Alford of Mt. Hermon, 3 sisters, Mrs. Ella Merritt of Hammond, Mrs. Rose Haselquist of New Orleans, and Mrs. Blanche Butler of Little Rock, Ark.

Elmer married¹ (1) Nola Victoria ALFORD on 25 Feb 1906 in Washington Parish, LA. Nola died² in 1909/1910 in Washington Parish, LA.

DEATH: Nola and Harold probably died before 1910 because Elmer is living with his sister, Ella, and her husband, Noah M. Merritt. The census is not clear, but it looks like he is a widower. Nola and Harold are not listed with him.

Dr. W.O. Alford of Bogalusa died Sunday afternoon in the Bogalusa hospital after a very brief illness from which he seemed to be rapidly recovering, having been up walking around it is reported, seemingly feeling alright just a few hours before death struck. Dr. Alford was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Alford of Sunny Hill and a nephew of our fellow townsman, D.N. Magee. Survivors: a wife and one child, and parents.

Dr. Oliver Wendall Alford whose sad death occurred June 9th, in the Bogalusa Hospital after a brief illness, was born 11-20-1878. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Alford of Mt. Hermon. He married 9-1909 to Miss Effie Easley and had three children. Dr. Alford was buried in the cemetery north of Bogalusa by the side of his two children who preceded him to the grave. He leaves a wife and one child, father, mother, four brothers, and three sisters.

CENSUS: He was living in the household of his uncle, Dewitt Nelson Magee, in the 1900 census.

OBITUARY: The friends of Dr. and Mrs. W.O. Alford of Bogalusa deeply grieve with them in the death of their four year old daughter, Wendall, in an automobile accident near McComb City, Saturday. Mrs. Alford's sister, Miss Wessie Easley, was driving the car and in looking back at a car following, let her machine drive into a telephone post when this child was thrown out of the car against the post and instantly killed. The mother of the child was also considerably injured and baby of Mrs. Alford's sister, Mr. Van Brock was cut and is still in the McComb Infirmary. Little Wendall was buried in the Bogalusa cemetery, Monday afternoon.
