Robbins Sunday School Class. He is survived by his wife, Keitha Casnaova Burris of Franklinton; two sons and daughters-in- law, Nathan Kevin and Melanie Burris of Mandeville and Richard Mark and Monika Burris of Wilmington, DE; a daughter, Kimberly Marie Burris of Franklinton; five grandchildren, Rachel, Dustin, Darin and Douglas Burris and Brandon Close; and a sister, Hida S. Mayer of Colonia, NJ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan Burris and Gladys Bateman Burris Stafford. Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home yesterday from 6-9 p.m. and will continue today until the funeral at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Bro. Jim Bain will officiate and burial will be in the Ellis Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Ronald Burris "Ronny" Simmons (died April 30, 2000) FRANKLINTON - Ronald Burris "Ronnie" Simmons, age 68, died yesterday in Ochsner Foundation Hospital, New Orleans. He was born in Magnolia, MS., and moved to Franklinton in 1940. He was a successful merchant - third generation of merchants on both sides of his family. His grandfather was one of the first members of Board of Directors of what was the Washington Bank and Trust Company. Mr. Simmons then became a member on the board of directors for the Washington Bank and Trust Company in 1981, and then a member of the Hancock Bank of Louisiana board of directors. As a member of the armed services, he was stationed at Fort Leslie J McNair in Washington, D. C. with the U.S. Army. He earned a BA degree from SLU and worked a year at LSU toward a master's degree. While at SLU, he received the Gertie Mims Award from the school of business and was listed in "Who's Who in Colleges and Universities". He took over Simmon's Department Store in 1955 and added the Squire Shop in 1970. The Fashionette was opened in 1962 and the Double-S Western Wear in 1980. He was co-chairman of Franklinton Centennial, past president of Franklinton Chamber of Commerce and a past member of Lions Club. A longtime member of Centenary United Methodist Church, he served on the church administration board and was a member of the chancel choir. He is survived by his wife, Nan Pierson Simmons; two sons, Ronald Jr. and Russell Allen Simmons, both of Franklinton; one daughter, Vanda Victoria Simmons Upton of Whitehouse Station, NJ; a brother, Hyman Ottis Simmons Jr of Kentwood; a daughter-in-law, Monica Simmons; son-in-law, Rann Upton and five grandchildren, Adam and Tusker Simmons, Victoria and Laurel Upton, Hannah Simmons and many cousins. OBITUARY: Bogalusa Daily News, 24 Jan 2003 George Duke Moore (Died Jan. 21, 2003) FRANKLINTON n George Duke Moore Jr., 61, died at Spruce Pine Community Hospital in Spruce Pine, NC, while vacationing. He was the retired co-owner of Moore and Jenkins Insurance Agency in Franklinton with a 40-year career in the business. He graduated from LSU where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order fraternity. He was past president of the Franklinton Rotary Club, a member of the Chamber of Commerce and was also an officer and board member of the Franklinton Country Club. Moore was an active member of the Centenary United Methodist Church where he served as chairman of the Board of Trustees for several years. He is survived by two daughters, Kelli M. and David Darbonne of Lake Charles and JoJan Moore of Mandeville; four grandsons, Christopher Carbonne, Andrew Darbonne, Evan Darbonne and Alexander Darbonne; a sister and brother-in-law Jan M. and Richard D. Jenkins of Franklinton; a sister-in-law, Nancy Neal of Welsley Chapel, FL; a brother-in-law, John Upchurch of Louisville, MS; a special cousin, Judy Moore Rabuffo of Franklinton; a nephew, Scott Jenkins; and six nieces, Leanne J. Norris, Faith Bahm, Patri Gast, Memory Mobley, Sue Ellen Taylor, and Carolyn DeKilder. He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Upchurch Moore and his parents George D. and Marah Burris Moore. Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Centenary United Methodist Church with Rev. Lyndle Bullard and Rev. Percy Mac Frazier officiating. Burial will be in the Ellis Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Centenary United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or Hospice of Covington at 1202 South Tyler St., Covington, LA, 70433.
