) was born on 13 Sep 1904 in Callaway Co, MO. She died 5 in Aug 1982 in Ft. Madison, Lee, IA.
HEALTH:She was born with a cleft palate.
27 Jan 2000 -I spoke to Sally Gelsthorpe, widow of James E Gelsthorpe, in Ft Madison, IA. She gave me the information that Ethel's mother was Folia Mae Goff. She then told me that her brother-in-law, Stanley would have more information for me concerning this family.
She may have been living with the Jake Huegel family in Jefferson City, Cole, MO in 1920. There's an Ethel, boarder, age 16. In this household, the name George Todd is written and then crossed out and the name Ethel is inserted. This would put her down the street from her step-brother, August Smith and around the corner from her mother and stepfather.
RESIDENCE: According to her SSDI, she and James lived in Ft. Madison as well as Sawyer, IA.
MARRIAGE: She might have been married to a _______ James before she was married to George Gelsthorpe.

Melvin Floyd GELSTHORPE [image] 1, 2, 3 was born in 1921 in Denison, Grayson, TX. He died 4 about 1970 in Agua Dulce, Los Angeles, CA?.
Melvin was adopted 5 about 1923 in Denison, Grayson, TX.
MILITARY:U S Marines Corps - WWII
Floyd was born Melvin Floyd Giboney, son of Ethel Giboney and father unknown. Dennis and Maud Goff took care of him from age 2 mos to ?. They started the adoption procedure when he was two. However, in photos where he's about 3 or 4, he's identified as Floyd Gelsthorpe leading me to believe that he was probably adopted by George after George and Ethel married.
Sally Miller Gelsthorpe says that after Floyd left the Marines after WWII, he lost contact with most of the family. She believes that he married and had a daughter and two sons.
