"I recently found that a house I lived in from 1945-1950 had been Landmarked as the Dr. James Boardman House. This is on the grounds of the formed Marine Hospital in Stapleton,Staten Island, NY...
"My curiosity drew me to search Dr.Boardman thru Censuses... I thought you might want to learn more about the history of the family on Staten Island.
"The 1850 Census shows James, Sarah and Anne in one location but Kingston 3 years old is listed with Grandmother Ellen Mudge at another location(in the same town)
"1860 Census shows all living together and by 1870 James and Ellen Mudge have died.
Kingston is a banker and in 1875 & 1878 he and Mathilda Boardman(I assume his wife) are Godparents to 2 daughters of Carl Julius Kullman & Louise Batz in the records of Trinity Lutheran Church, Stapleton, SI.
"I loved living in that old house. My Mom did so much work restoring it . It is a great old house. My Dad was also a Doctor. He won the first Lasker Award while we were living there and went on to become NYC Comm. of Health. The present owner is Bayley-Seton Hospital which is in the process of closing and I wonder what will happen to the house now."

OCCUPATION: He became an ordained minister on 2 Dec 1846 and was installed at the Congregational Church at Southwick, MA. He was the first pastor of the Mittineague, MA Congregational Church and he pastored the Congregational Church in West Suffield, CT until his retirement in 1864 due to ill health.

The description of him in one of his Certificate of Disability For Discharge (24 Mar 1863) papers state that he was born in Howard Co, MO, 35 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall with dark complexion, blue eyes and black hair and listed his occupation as farmer. He had been sick for the past 90 days and was unable to function as a soldier. Military Papers
He was listed in the Callaway Co MO 1860 Census with his father and mother. He stated his age was 32.
